Dream Walker   Leave a comment

I titled this one “Dream Walker”
Dream Walker painting by Aarron Laidig

This was another canvas that has been floating around for a zillion years with various false starts happening on its surface.
Like the painting titled “Ayla” that I recently posted about… the canvas this lovely work of art now graces was recently in my cursed canvases pile.

Unlike Ayla, this canvas didn’t seem to be still cursed when i took my paint brushes out and attached it.
I painted over the old (almost complete, but I hated it) image of a girl doing a contortionist type yoga position with big strokes of blues, a tad of black, some red, and whites.
It was fun to swirl the paints and use the bumpy texture of the previous failed paintings to create with.
My impressionistic interpretation of the way into dreams happened effortlessly.
I let it dry a day (it was still tacky the next day though) before going for the figure.
She needed to be dreamy, but solid. She needed to be awake, but just barely.
She would walk lightly yet confidently, but still with hesitation because she knows not what her dreams shall bring this night.
I tried to give her a feel of stretching in the morning as one wakes, but while standing.
Great success in that I think.
For me… I’ve always thought that entering the dream world must be similar to entering the waking state.
It is drifting off and then waking. It is like that going both ways.

Long story short = I enjoyed the creation and the finished artwork here very much.
Sometimes a canvas isn’t actually cursed.
It is just waiting for the artist to realize what it is supposed to become.
