I know just reading the words “cinnamon girl,” makes you think of that Neil Young song from back in the early 70’s (I think early 70’s)
If not that, then I would guess one of the many covers of Neil’s song is what comes to mind.
Anyways… The title of this fun bit of art is “Sweet memories of my cinnamon girl,” and it has nothing to do with the song you may possibly have stuck in your head because of my talking about it.
The title actually comes from the real life girly I have portrayed above.
A red haired lassie with extra pail skin and very cute freckles. Her freckles happened to be the exact color of sprinkled cinnamon.
It actually looked as if cinnamon had been sprinkled on her skin.
Snow white skin plus cinnamon sprinkles made her seem like cinnamon and sugar come to life.
Who could resist such a thing?
So… the art.
I sketched this on coldpress watercolor paper with two different Pigma pens of the graphic sort.
I then let the thing lay about for umpteen years (about a month really) before actually getting around to applying the watercolor paint. The reason for that wasn’t procrastination or laziness, it was a need to be thinking of her when I applied the paint. I did the watercolor wet on wet without any breaks so minimal drying occurred between layers.
Messy and filled with the moment is how I rolled for this one.
The result is great because it captures multiple feelings and thoughts all in one small image.
If you dig it you can get yourself a nice print HERE.
I do recommend getting it in the actual size of 12″ x 9″.
Just in case reading about my art made you lose the song in your head… here you go…
I wanna live
with a cinnamon girl
I could be happy
the rest of my life
With a cinnamon girl.
A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together,
chasing the moonlight,
My cinnamon girl.
