Artistic Flow   Because reality is only an illusion

This bit of art is called “Untitled 10102013.”
That is right my friends… I have once again not titled a painting.
I shall not rant about titles today however. I shall let the subject lay low in the bog of my mind.
So, without further adieu…

This painting is acrylic on canvas and measures just fourteen inches across, and just eleven inches in height.
I created this in a rapid style without much forethought. I enjoyed the creation immensely, but was unsure with the outcome. After showing it to a few of those who are… shall we say… “involved with my personal life,” I am even more unsure. I got bad reviews like “that sucks,” and “it looks like shit,” to “I could do that”, and “it looks like a paint by numbers.” I always discount the “I could do that” type comments from non painters/illustrators because it is basically the dumbest fucking thing a person can say. I hear it most commonly about the most famous of the abstract artists, and often about the expressionists and impressionists.
Sorry folks… if you could create like Kandinsky you would. If making art like Willem de Kooning (without exactly copying) Willem de Kooning was easy you would do it.
People who say such things usually lack an eye for art to the point I discredit anything they say relating to the art, techniques, and composition. I do however still pay attention to the “I like it” or “I don’t like it” bits of what they say.
As for myself liking something… Doesn’t matter. I don’t count with my own work. Many of the late masters of art tossed away what they considered crap only to have it become their best known works later on. Many of those same artists loved pieces that have faded into obscurity. We who make the art are not truly able to judge it I think.
I also got a few good reviews. I even got a couple “I love it” type remarks, and one “I wish you would do more of that sort of thing.”
Mixed reviews indeed. Not much middle ground though. It was a two thumbs up or two thumbs down type deal.
In the end, I am left unsure.
In the end I am guessing you (the viewer) either likes it or hates it. I am doubting you fall someplace down the middle on that.
