A dream within a dream was the inspiration for this painting.
A dream about a dream (or maybe a dreamer) might describe it better.
She was caught in an unending night terror. She could not run away from it as it was everywhere. The end was near and flight was futile, but then… the blue bird appeared. For a moment the chaos faded and a quietness overcame the dream as the bird brought a moment of solace from her night terror. I could not tell if she knew it was a dream. I do know she needed the break in the storm of what seemed her reality at the time though.
