Creation can be so simple   Leave a comment

I just thought it would be fun/different to show an example of how the conceptual stage of a painting becomes the finished work when things just go perfectly smooth.

I will say however that it isn’t the norm.
Most of the time I have a multitude of changes go on mentally before my original doodle finds it’s way to the canvas.
Once I have my basic idea on the canvas it is often a case of even more changes happening as paint. I have a theory that if a painting wants to change and grow when your working on it you should go with it.

About the only time a will force a painting to stick to the sketch is if it is a commissioned work that required a sketch approval.

The above painting (Violet Sauce) was not a commission. It just happened to flow easily without much alteration from the original idea all on it’s own.
