constitutions uncaffeinated   Leave a comment

Constitutions uncaffeinated with feet and hummingbird is my amazingly lame title for this surrealistic charcoal sketch which was conceived in dreamland via lack of caffeine in my system I am guessing. Don’t lie to me and claim you’ve never had dreams centered around hummingbirds and a girl’s feet though… I know you probably have so I think this is some good art for you.

Little prints, stickers, cups, shirts, etc. are available HERE.

Sketch vs drawing…. for me a sketch has usually been something little time is involved in. So in a case like this where it should have been a ten-minute sketch, but turns into a hour-long process it makes me feel like it is a drawing kinda. Only kinda though. It is on random paper rather than quality art paper. It is not cleaned up, and is very much a first draft. It is basically a fancied version of my rough sketches. The charcoal at hand was used, I had a broken Pentalic soft stick and a General’s hard charcoal pencil. Less than fifteen feet away a bag in a drawer contained multiple types of charcoal. I never thought to get it and refine things. It was and is a sketch. Size, materials, substrate, and time make is so. If it were to become a “drawing” in the finished sense it would have required either a bunch of refining at the bare minimum, but in my case it also would have required me getting a sheet of archival paper and setting up with proper charcoals… instead of whatever and a piece of a fast food napkin to blend. Anyways, I like sketches. This one is fun.

Tripp’n Peacock Dance Ink   Leave a comment

So here is a tripp’n peacock dance drawing with some orchids for a nice surrealism dance flashback-type moment if you have a brain like me. Probably not, so just think “really cool dancer drawing.” Especially if you like peacocks and orchids I suppose… but however, you think about it we have a fun surrealistic ink draw. The original is about 6″ wide and was drawn with Pigma Micron pens.

I thought it would look sweet on cups, and it does. You can get it HERE, and drink your warm beverages with style. It wasn’t my original plan, but because it looked awesome I decided to put it on an ornament too. You can get that HERE for your fave ballet lover. Santa is sure to dig seeing it.

Monk-E   Leave a comment

I’m not exactly sure what I was going for here. Is it now? Is it the future? The youth of America are living in a childhood of uncertainty right now. They are blessed with lives of ease compared to any generation before them… abundant food, cell phones in their pocket that give them access to more information than any university of old ever could. So many channels, such an abundant amount of entertainment, fashions for all rather than just a worry of staying clothed, but oh how stressed they are, and oh how uncertain their futures. We’ve created a society without easy-to-set goals, endless wars, and new forms of tribalism. Our governments are corrupt and rotten to the core, can’t be trusted… enemies we must sleep with. What shall tomorrow bring? How do they cope?

The title is Monk-E because this stuffed animal lives in my home and is named Chunky Munk.

You can get prints of this fabulous artwork HERE.

I also did a re-mix which you can see and get HERE.

People with a porpoise   Leave a comment

This is a 9″ wide x 12″ high bit of paper I did some quick acrylic washing on.
I basically made this by quick sketching and doing washes with paints I already had out while working on a larger canvas.
On completion my work partner in crime, complainer of my messes, and most harsh art critic said… I don’t like it.
She then said one of the figures reminded her of a porpoise.
Not to leave me confused or feeling like she was incorrect she showed me pictures of baltic porpoises and declared herself to be obviously in the right.
Her position of self-imagined rightness obviously meant I agreed with her in her mind.
Since I had no great inspiration or purpose, I figured why not go with porpoise, and since they are people doing something of some sort which can be decided by the viewer… people with a porpoise is the title that stuck.

Prints can be had HERE.

Piercer   Leave a comment

Just relocated my studio in Port Angeles. Still in the process actually, but work must go on… starving artist life and all.
I also reinstated my piercing license recently specifically so I could teach someone to pierce. It took her a few years to talk me into it, and basically, she succeeded only because she is my best friend. We are talking about many years of best-friend status too. I’m not easy to persuade. I’m basically just about making pictures these days.
So, I today decided to make a picture that was piercing-related. Wanted it G-rated because thought I’d make shirts from it.
What to do? No clue. Decided to rando hit up google images like I was a client looking for inspiration. Tried looking up things that’d mesh with her (the one learning to pierce) and I. Seriously started feeling frustrated and kinda started flipping through images quickly and super randomly to see if anything caught my eye.
I know… not very Aarron-like. I’m full of ideas and if referencing images at all they are almost always my own. Eventually settled on a few to look at. Moon stuff, tattoo stuff, a fox that was drawn sweet… I quickly sketched it out on a small canvas and then took it to my painting room. Goodbye references. That turned out a mistake because later I went to look again and realized I’d not saved images, just looked online during the sketch and then closed windows. Oh well… better left to the fates. Too much referencing makes for lazy art and similar imagery. This way it took a life of its own. My goal was kinda tattooish, kinda painterly, and a bit mystical with a piercer focus.
Think I nailed it.

Anyways, You can get prints of this HERE.
You can get a shirt HERE.

Moirai regarding a string on the skein   Leave a comment

The Moirai regarding a string on the skein is a representation of the eyes of the Fates looking at their handiwork when a tangle appears. Love and lust are often the reason such tangles can appear in their well-woven web.

Maybe the Moirai had a plan for these two, and the lovers are following the path in a manner unwanted, or maybe they weren’t supposed to be lovers at all. Whatever the case we have the Fates’ watchful gaze on them. A tangle, a knot, a loose end… I know what my intention was, but the painting leaves it open to interpretation, so I leave that to you to decide.

You can get prints of this painting via Fine Art America HERE.

Clancy Gilroy   Leave a comment

This is a tattoo of Clancy Gilroy from a show called The Midnight Gospel.

The guy who got it says it is his favorite show, so… I had to watch a few episodes.
Trippy and weird to say the least. If I was the sort to recommend taking shrooms to watch a show I’d say this is the one, but I’m not that sort so I’ll recommend nothing.
Anyways, this guy is kinda like a magic alien who can use a simulator to travel to various universes both alive and dead it seems. He then runs around like it is a video game, but he’s all about exploring huge existential questions.
